Your home is your sanctuary –

it should welcome you, inspire you, be comfortable, fit your lifestyle, and most importantly, it should make you feel happy.

“There’s no place like home.”

- Dorothy Gale “The Wizard of Oz” L. Frank Baum

How Ellen's Design Career Began

Ellen spent hours poring over her mother's design books and magazines as a child, finding inspiration for afternoons spent rearranging furniture and trying her hand at perfectly styled vignettes. Even when it meant coming home to an unexpected new look in the living room, Ellen’s mother enthusiastically encouraged her creativity, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion.

A graduate of Boston College, Ellen pursued a career in teaching. And, from understanding how to create informative plans for clients to tapping into what makes people gravitate toward one color or another, she is still finding that her degrees in education and psychology are useful today.

Ellen made a career change to design while on a career break when her children were young. Friends and family kept coming to her with requests for design help, paint color suggestions, furnishings ideas and suggestions, and to help them find “just the right” pieces for their homes. After helping style a few homes for friends who were selling their homes, a real estate agent friend suggested Ellen pursue staging professionally — that kicked off Ellen’s first venture into the design world.

Designing with Purpose

A steadfast believer in continued education, Ellen pursued and completed a staging certification course before opening her business, and, a few years later, went back to school again to pursue a certificate in interior design through the New England Institute of Art in Boston.

Today, Ellen works with clients to reveal the potential and the personal style that is waiting in each and every space. Her design approach is inspired by many of the same elements that inspired her as a child — beautiful color palettes, the outdoors, and the magic of the geometry found in nature.

Ellen prioritizes understanding and listening to her clients and their unique needs above all else. Her goal isn’t just to deliver a stunning design, but a space that is a reflection of the way they live.

Beyond Design: Art, Community and Nature

Ellen’s interest in business and the arts extends beyond her own work. She is a member of multiple organizations including the Winchester Chamber of Commerce, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Institute of Contemporary Art.

When she is not working on furniture sourcing and lighting plans, Ellen loves getting outdoors, where she enjoys skiing, tennis, golf, and gardening. She’s an avid photographer who enjoys wandering museum galleries and spending time with her family.

“We found Ellen on Houzz, and this is our first time working together. Her ability to understand our needs and craft a design that delivers our vision while maximizing the function and aesthetic of our bathroom space is impressive. Ellen has made the design and remodeling process much less stressful by thoughtfully and carefully walking us through the required design decisions and product selections. In addition, her communication and interface with our contractor make our project stress-free. We would highly recommend working with Ellen for your home design needs.”
